Damian Paull, chief executive, Australian Retail Credit Association
Damian has served as the chief executive of the Australian Retail Credit Association (ARCA) since May 2011. Established in 2006, ARCA is the peak body for retail credit providers and credit reporting bodies, and exists to promote best practice in credit risk assessment and responsible credit, as well as to promote better standards in consumer credit reporting. In his role as chief executive, Damian played a key role in drafting and overseeing the new comprehensive credit reporting laws introduced in March 2014, and remains a strong advocate for a comprehensive credit reporting system in Australia.
Previously, Damian has worked extensively in banking regulation and consumer affairs, including roles as director of the Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals and chief executive of the Code Compliance Monitoring Committee. He has also worked for regulatory bodies ASIC and the Australian Federal Police, and held senior positions in compliance teams within major lenders including ANZ, NAB and AMP.
